Preinvent collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting, and there is no server of mine that it talks to.

What leaves your device

• Your search words, sent to the public registries that search covers. Every result lists them in sources_checked. The possible hosts are api.github.com, gitlab.com, registry.npmjs.org, pypi.org, crates.io, pkg.go.dev, search.maven.org, rubygems.org, azuresearch-usnc.nuget.org, hub.docker.com, marketplace.visualstudio.com, hn.algolia.com, skills.sh, artifacthub.io, registry.platformio.org and components.espressif.com. With --local, a search sends nothing, except the one-time model download below if it has not happened yet.
• Your GitHub token, only if you are logged in to the gh command line or set GITHUB_TOKEN. It goes only to GitHub, to raise GitHub's rate limit.
• One model download on first use, from huggingface.co: a text-embedding model that ranks results on your device (about 640 MB on the Mac, about 80 MB on the iPhone). It is not a chat model, and your searches never go to it over the network.
• Lists you subscribe to, only when you add one: its README from raw.githubusercontent.com and awesome.ecosyste.ms. YouTube channel feeds you subscribe to.

What stays on your device

Your library, search history, saved lists, groups and the response cache live in one local database on your own machine. Nothing in it is uploaded.

Preinvent verzamelt niets. Je zoekwoorden gaan alleen naar de openbare registers die in elke uitkomst staan, en met --local gaat er niets weg, behalve de eenmalige download van het model als die nog niet gedaan is. Je bibliotheek en geschiedenis blijven op je eigen apparaat.
